| Welcome to the site of UK amateur photographer John Clarke. |

I have been painting pictures for years and only recently turned my eye towards photography. For a long time I believed that photography could not be considered an art form because the mechanics were performed by the camera and not the man and photography was therefore a technology. However, with the continuing development of digital photography and processing allowing the creation and recreation a picture in seconds rather than hours or days was too much for me to resist. The possibilities presented by todays photographic software were the final factor in my decision to turn to the camera to produce my art. I still believes that photography itself is not an art form but the final photograph can be.

 | | People (1 images)
Photographs of people at work, rest and play
|
 | | Panoramas (3 images)
Here you will find a variety of subjects all in 'panorama' format. The photographs are a mixture of B&W and colour.

 | | Paintings (1 images)
A selection of my paintings
|
 | | Photo Art (3 images)
This category is probably my main interest as it allows for more expression, experiment and creativity in studio processing of a photograph.
|
 | | Black and White (2 images)
I can't sum it up but there is something about the atmosphere of a B&W photograph that just isn't present in colour
